DIPLOPIA rehabilitation programme: PRESS-ONS The rehabilitation programme to undertake depends on the causes generating diplopia. However, regardless of the cause, the problem can be tackled with techniques aimed at eliminating doubling. Namely, it is possible to use special adhesive lenses with a prismatic strength called PRESS-ON prisms or with an additional strength called PRESS-ON lenses. AMBLYOPIA rehabilitation programme: OCCLUDERS Amblyopia rehabilitation consists in occluding or penalising the eye with the best vision with fabric or suction cup occluders to be applied directly onto the eye or occluders with an elastic band to be applied onto glasses. A reduction in the visual capacity of the unaffected eye results in a stimulation of the lazy eye to improve its ability to see.

Press-on

Press-on prisms and press-on lenses Press-on prisms are normally used to treat strabismus and eye movement disorders. These particular adhesive lenses with a prismatic strength can be applied to the eyeglasses already in use. They deflect the image in one or both eyes, favouring visual alignment and can therefore reduce or eliminate diplopia and re-establish single vision. Press-on lenses are used to temporarily correct vision on existing eyeglasses as a test to verify accommodation to a change in strength compared to the previous one. This kind of press-on is also available in a crescent-shaped version for application on a monofocal lens and therefore to turn it into a bifocal one.

Bangerter Occlusion Foils

Bangerter occlusion foils are used in the preventive treatment of amblyopia, exclusion and abnormal retinal correspondence.They are also used for correlation disorders, unilateral aphakia and temporary diplopia. By occluding or penalising the eye with the best visual acuity by using these filters – which let light pass through according to a scale with ten values up to total occlusion – the weaker eye is able to recover its visual function.
