Sunglasses are a necessity for children from the age of one as they protect them from the sun's rays when exposure is greatest and natural protection is lowest.
The sun is the main source of electromagnetic radiation on earth and only a small part of this radiation is visible to the human eye, the visible spectrum, which includes wavelengths between 380mm and 780mm. Other types of radiation (UV-IR) can cause significant damage to ocular tissues (eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, crystalline lens and sometimes even the retina). Protecting children's eyes from excessive UV radiation, both direct and reflected, is therefore extremely important. Since most UV radiation can penetrate a layer of cloud, similar precautions must be taken in cloudy weather. In addition, UV radiation increases with increasing altitude (approximately +12% per 1000 metres), making UV protection even more important in the mountains.
Within our range of childrens's sunglasses, we offer two types of lenses, designed to best meet the needs of the main age groups (Infants 0-2, Pre-schoolers 3-5, Schoolchildren 6-10 and Pre-teen 11 -14).:
Triacetate polarizing filters
An unbreakable material that reduces glare from reflective surfaces and improves comfort, contrast perception and vision quality.
Polycarbonate Lenses
Lightweight and impact resistant, they offer high protection against UVA-UVB rays.
