What do a start-up company that wants to fight marine pollution caused by plastic and a newly-created eyewear brand of an SME operating in the optics sector for over 40 years have in common? Their mission: to give space back to nature.
In 2020, Centro Style successfully launched Neyeture on the optics market, a brand with a strong focus on the sustainability of every detail of the project. Indeed, Neyeture comprises a full range of frames made from Rilsan (a bio-based polyamide, more than 45% of which made from castor oil) with a magnetic clip-on to suit any kind of requirement in terms of use. Lastly, the project features the matching microfibre cloth, 70% of which is made by recycling PET bottles, the related case 100% made from RPET and the case of the magnetic clip-on, 35% of which is made with Rilsan, the same bio-based material of the frames.
2021 marks the partnership between the brand and Blue Eco Line, which with the River Cleaner project has found an actual solution to pollution in rivers due to plastic, the main cause of the related marine pollution too. The shared desire to give space back to nature by recovering floating plastic waste and putting it back into the separate waste collection circuit offers the chance to solve a problem by giving plastic a new lease of life. A virtuous circle that might truly lead to a better world.
For the whole of 2021, thanks to the sales of Neyeture frames with clip-ons sold in optical practices all over the world, Centro Style will support the River Cleaner project by taking part in the creation of the first automated system in the Veneto region powered with energy from renewable sources to collect plastic from rivers. The system will be able to potentially recover up to 25,000 kg of plastic every day, preventing it from ending up in the sea and decomposing into microplastics to help protect the environment.
Every package will have a flyer made with eco-friendly paper derived from excess algae from lagoon environments at risk mixed with FSC® fibres, featuring the Zero Impact® label from LifeGate, as does the rest of Neyeture’s packaging.
